A SONIC MISSION
Andy Hidber has been an active guitarist for 30 years. In all those years, none of his guitars remained in their original condition. Whether it was Paulas, Strats, Teles, Gretsches or other cool guitars, there was always something that needed to be upgraded, usually pickups, electronics, hardware, etc. His experience in upgrading guitars eventually led him to build his own guitars from scratch to meet his own needs for good looking, great sounding, functional and concert ready instruments.
Magneton Custom Shop Guitars is a small workshop, run by pure passion. All Instruments are handbuilt by Andy here at the Guitar Barn – a 150 Year old carpentry – in Oberwil, near Basel, Switzerland.
Although there are always a few finished guitars and basses in the showroom ready for a tryout, Andy would love to build the next guitar custom made for you, so feel free to contact him to discuss all possible options (shape, woods, colors and finishes, hardware, pickups, etc.) for your new dream guitar!
THE INSTRUMENT

Each player has different preferences when it comes to neck shapes, fret sizes and the overall feel and sound of their instrument. That is why all of the guitars and basses are unique pieces of inspired craftmanship, handbuilt for your hands here at the guitar barn in beautiful switzerland.
There is always a choice of finished guitars in stock, ready to be tested here at the barn. But chances are, the ideal instrument for you is yet to be built.
Contact Andy to discuss all the possible options (shape, woods, colors and finishes hardware, pickups, etc.) for your dream axe. Built time may vary, but is approximately around 6 months.
You will of course be informed about the status of your build and I will update you regularly with the building process of guitar – thats a big part of the fun!

Andy Hidber's Magneton Custom Shop Guitars is part of the Guitar Barn in Oberwil, near Basel, Switzerland. The Gitarrenscheune is a 130 year old carpentry shop in the old part of Oberwil, a small village near Basel.
Andy shares the space with a few other guitar geeks and wood fans like Magor Szilagyi from Mag O'Lee Archtop Guitars, Fabian Frei from woodn.ch, Alain Gfeller Guitars and Giacun Schmid from Barngain Recycled Guitars and we run a workshop and a tiny little showroom and store for the avid guitarist.

We have a small but very elaborate selection of beautiful sounding amplifiers for many musical styles and our selection of effect pedals – used and new – is continuously growing.
If you need new strings, straps or bags, we have a small but good selection, too. Our bags come from Fusion UK – simply the best bags on the market.

Besides all the machines and tools for building guitars and basses, we also have a nice selection of fine tone woods, already prepared bodies and necks stock, including a variety of hardware parts and pickups.
